My Daily Skincare Routine

I realized this year that the only thing I’ve been consistent about daily in my life is my skin care routine. Not any other healthy or good-or-me habit. Just taking care of my skin. And primarily my face, because these winter hands are struggling. They’re just so difficult to keep moisturized when they’re used all the time! I like how my face is more of a set it and forget it kind of deal.

Since skincare is what I love and what I have apparently habitualized so deeply it’s not even a real thought, I figured I’d share with you what I use. I love reading about other people’s habits; maybe you do too. I’ve fine-tuned my routine to what works for my skin and my schedule. I have tailored it to my particular skin needs & goals. I’m always happy to help you find what will help you meet your skin’s needs and goals as well. If I’ve learned one thing from being a skin care consultant, it’s that we are individuals. Both our needs and goals are different. Even if the goals are the same (look like a Disney princess until the day you die) our skin, time, budget and consistency will all vary.

I’ve used some sort of skin care regimen and routine since I was in my early teens. If you’re new to using more than a bar of soap and some kind of facial moisturizer, it might feel intimidating to add in a toner, essence, serum or cream. Every part of a skin care regimen has it’s place. Each piece has a particular function in skin health.

What kind of skincare I use

All of the skincare I use is Beautycounter. I’ve been using Beautycounter exclusively since the beginning of 2019 and don’t see any reason to change. I do get curious about new clean beauty products that I see other women share on Instagram or Facebook, but I have yet to try something that I like as much or better than Beautycounter.

Before I list out my daily skincare routine, I want to share that I use a couple of products as treatments throughout the week. The two I use most often are the Overnight Resurfacing Peel and the AHA Smoothing Mask. They’re both part of Beautycounter’s Reflect Effect line – a line that’s dedicated to effective exfoliation without harmful ingredients. Even with the exfoliating acids used in these products, they don’t bother my rosacea-sensitive skin.

Alright, let’s dive in!

Treatments

  • Three times a week, I use the Reflect Effect Overnight Resurfacing Peel. On nights I use the Peel, I skip the Countertime serum.
  • Once a week, I use the Reflect Effect AHA Smoothing Mask. If I do this mask in the morning, I follow my regular routine once i’ve washed it off. If I do this mask in the evening, I skip the Countertime Essence & Serum.
  • On an as-needed basis, I use the Counter+ Charcoal Facial Mask. It’s fantastic for a deep clean and I like to use it as a spot treatment if a blemish is popping up.
